TEXAS! So begins our 2 weeks in this great state, we will be in Denton/Dallas for about a week and then on to Austin for SXSW! This is going to be a little break for us before heading off to New Orleans, Birmingham, Atlanta, and working our way up the east coast! Man. This has been a great ride so far and we are only almost a quarter of the way done! WHEEEWWWW!
OKC treated us very well, met some amazing people through couchsurfing and hopefully will be seeing them as they come out to SD. The first day in Oklahoma felt a lot like home, it was 60 degrees and the sunsets were reminiscent of a San Diego beach sunset. Then last night OKC got hit with a crazy freezing rain storm and sent cars careening down the street to certain peril…2 cars on the street we were on got smashed up in the middle of the night by hit-and-runners. We got lucky, very lucky.
Anywho….we are ready for this time visiting some King family and old high school friends! Another set of stories will follow I am sure :)
TO THE CZAR BAR! We 2 Mohawks are headed to Kansas City today to play with a couple AWESOME bands that we may be more excited just to hear live than to play for :)
Our day and a half in Lincoln was lovely, Will is one of the most kind and talented people we know. To be able to jam with him and chat about music & life was such a pleasure. Hopefully he will be down in Southern California soon to share with you all his light. Truly honored to know him!
FORWARD WE FORGE!
Knickerbockers get ready! #MohawksAcrossAmerica has arrived in Lincoln, NE and it is COLD! Poor Californians…it was literally 1 degree when we woke up this morning. A SINGLE degree. Sam slept with his Uggs on…and all the 10 jackets he brought. Made it safe and sound though, arrived at out buddy Will’s house just as he was finishing cooking us dinner and making up his bed for us to sleep in…the generosity and hospitality continues :)
Tomorrow we head out to Kansas City to play with 2 bands we have been wanting to hear since we booked the show, this is gonna be a great few days of driving and playing non stop! FORGE ON MOHAWKS!!
Day 10 of the #MohawksAcrossAmerica Tour, we have done 2 of the 4 shows we have in Denver/Boulder and so far it has been amazing. It snowed, Sam had a winter wonderland moment at the show on Wednesday when it was coming down. It has been beautiful here and on our day off our buddy Lance will be taking us to the “real” snow :) We have been staying with the one and only Dr. David Ryan Norgren while in town with our tour guide being Lance, and we even got to play with Dave! He managed to fit his upright bass in his new Jeep, we had such a blast playing with him last night that we are gonna try to get him to join us tonight and tomorrow!
Tonight we have Paris on the Platte and Sunday, our last date here in Colorado, is The Laughing Goat in Boulder. After that we head out to Lincoln, Nebraska to see our good friends Will Hutchinson and play a show.
Off to enjoy some actual weather ya’ll :) This has been a spectacular trip so far and we are only a week in!
Santa Fe here we come! Tonight is our first show of the tour at Cowgirl BBQ.
To continue with the crazy nice accommodations we have been experiencing our buddy Troy has gone above and beyond here in New Mexico. As Sam and I rolled into Albuquerque Troy ran out of his house to greet us with some last minute changes to our stay…HE GOT US A HOTEL ROOM FOR 2 NIGHTS?!? Yeah…WHAT?
So here we are, in New Mexico again. Being treated to a hotel stay while in town. This is not how we pictured this tour at all! So far we have had beds, meals, and overwhelming hospitality :) We have some amazing friends and family, and we couldn’t ask for a better start to our first national tour!
Stop #2. The beautiful home of Anna & Doug Lerner. We have had pizza, baby time with Luke, & both pups (Mica & Bella) have thoroughly licked Sam and I. What a great continuation of our relaxing week leading up to the first official show of the tour tomorrow in Santa Fe! So far…so very good!
Cowgirl BBQ won’t even know what hit it once we are through with them :)
AND WE’RE OFF! #MohawksAcrossAmerica Tour is officially underway people. We had a nice short drive to Borrego Springs for some R&R before we really go full force into this adventure.
Not to worry, we have already had a few minor bumps and thankfully all is well. we went to leave our house in SD Sam got into the car and *click click click* nothing. In a well controlled inner panic he tells me that the car won’t start, hopefully I have an answer. After going through a few options in my mind I come to the conclusion that a light had to have been left on overnight and drained the battery. At least I hope that is it! Sam calls AAA, we sit in the driveway and wait.
When AAA gets there he checks the battery and, low & behold, the battery is near death. Very near death. Turns out while we were finishing up packing some last things we had strapped the roof bag on in such a way that the door was not closed all the way…we were only inside for maybe an hour. That killed the battery. To death!
We sheepishly purchase a new battery from the AAA serviceman, re-strap the roof bag, and we are on our way…to the wrong address. Siri decided to take the address Sam punched in and do whatever the hell she wanted with it. She sent us to the address but in a totally different city. 2 hours out of the way. When we finally realize this I curse the phone and open my WAZE app, man I love that thing. Now we have been driving for almost 4 hours on what is supposed to be less than a 2 hour trip, we finally get to Borrego Springs and Sam stops down to his basketball shorts and jumps into the pool immediately as I make my way to the kitchen to find something to cook. I guess we both found our happy places :)
We got here safe, got a few bumps out of the way, and now we are relaxing today before we head to Phoenix tomorrow.
They’re here!! The album is ready to ship out to all you pre-orders and kickstarter supporters tomorrow first thing. Thanks to everyone for being so patient, its been a long road to get this done but here we are ready for the road with our debut album in our hands!! Soon…it will be in yours!

So this is it, tonight we play our last show of the tour! Laguna Beach has treated us well in the past and we are happy to be making this our last stop before our heads find our own pillows. This has been a crazy 3 weeks and even though we are ready to be home we are already planning for the future tours!! The next one will be bigger and better, more dates and more cities, cross-country to every state and hopefully with some close friends along for the ride :)
